Calm in the midst of a storm

One odd sunday I woke up early and headed out for a walk alone. My husband had left earlier than me for a run with his friends.

I am not a morning person, definitely not a Sunday morning person.

As I got to the walking path just outside my house, a clear day begun to give way to dark clouds. Rain looked eminent, yet I decided to carry on. As I walked a few meters , it started to pour.

I realised that not a drop was falling on me, I could see rain around me but not on me..how strange…I looked above and saw dense cover of trees.

I thought to myself “ah I have heard of calm before the storm…but this feels like calm in the midst of a storm”

I managed to walk the whole stretch without getting wet.

There was a parallel path alongside and I saw a friend drenched and running. She spotted me and waved. I waved back. She shouted from far as to why was I not going back home. I laughed and said I am enjoying the weather.

She took it as a joke , made a mad sign on her head and made a dash to her home . I thought to myself, “did she just imply i am mad. Wait. I am under the shade of tree, not wet and calmly waiting for rain to stop. She has decided to take the parallel uncovered path , is soaked drenched and has to run to save her life . Who is mad?”

I didn’t let this interaction from far affect my good mood. Rain was beginning to slow down. Sun was shining again. It looked like a perfect day for rainbow. I decided to wait for it.

The Breeze was good and it became completely dry soon. I looked around and there was no sign of rainbow. I noticed two buses parked at the far end with some colorful arches, I comforted my mind explained to myself, well this is close.

Disclaimer , I don’t see rainbows Everyday, I live in tropical country, it rains Everyday and yet I spot them only 3-4 times in a year. I don’t stop waiting for them and when I spot one it truly makes my day.

As I turned back to head home , I notice a big rainbow right above me.

One important fact I learnt about rainbows that day, they always appear in the direction opposite to the sun. Since I usually walk in the evenings I spot them in east.

This time it was morning and it was in the west. It was there all along just that I wasn’t looking right way.

I took many lessons home from my walk that day.

One could be dry in the midst of a rain

it’s ok to be calm and not hurried like my friend

It’s important to know which is the right direction

That it’s completely ok to wait for a rainbow as Long as you have robust faith that gives in to your mad insane wish 🌈
